It’s no secret that Sony is working on a successor to the PlayStation VR. Back in February of this time, the Tokyo- grounded company revealed that it was developing a new virtual reality unit for the always- out-of- stock PS5 We have n’t had important in the way of sanctioned updates from Sony since also, but a lately discovered patent operation gives us a regard of what the device’s regulators might look like.

A patent operation for what we ’ll call the PSVR 2 regulator was filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) onFeb. 26, 2021. The images filed with the operation show a device identical to the functionary render of the PSVR 2 regulator that Sony preliminarily revealed The images in question have several black blotches on each one, and some of the blotches appear to relate with the device’s shadowing points. According to the form, “ the present invention improves the stability of detecting a light- emitting unit by using a camera.” This would presumably be the PS5 HD camera.

Save for the shadowing light’s placements, the patent operation does n’t show further than we ’ve formerly seen from the functionary render. We see three fresh buttons that a stoner can press with their middle, ring, and little fritters. It’s anyone’s conjecture what these redundant buttons are for. The ring sitting behind the buttons and the stoner’s thumb, as seen in the functionary render, is easily visible This is n’t the first time we ’ve seen a patent operation filed for the PSVR 2. Beforehand in November, a patent operation for the device’s headset surfaced. Back in 2019, another patent operation mentioned the eventuality for a wireless headset That particular patent operation said that “ signals could be transmitted to the ( head- mounted display) by a wired or wireless connection”. It further stated that Bluetooth could be one system of wireless connection with the press.

While the rearmost patent operation is clearly real, it’s no suggestion of commodity that will actually see the light of day. Indeed the functionary render revealed in February is n’t one hundred percent perfected Whatever the case, we will see a PSVR successor ultimately, though there’s no way to determine when that will be. It’ll be intriguing to see how this device will distinguish itself from machines like the Oculus Quest 2 and Valve Index.
